San Miguel de Allende is rich in history, has the most beautiful and vibrant streets, charming cobblestones (that my shoes hated), and so many amazing art galleries and shops.
I wanted to share what to do in San Miguel de Allende and hopefully I will make you want to plan a trip there because it is a pretty special place.
We flew into the Leon airport which is one of the larger airports and has more flight times, so I would suggest flying in and out of here. I set up a car service through the hotel and would highly suggest this as well. You don’t really want to take a cab or uber because it isn’t the safest (even though I felt completely safe my entire trip). We even took beer and wine in the car which turned out to be an amazing idea since it was an 1.5 hour drive.
We stayed at Hotel Matilda which is a small boutique hotel and in the center of everything. We had a great experience and would highly suggest this as a great place to stay. I debated on booking the Rosewood which is obviously an amazing hotel as well but I am happy we ended up staying at a smaller spot.
There are so many things to do in town including going to Fabrica La Aurora, Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel, and walking tours around the town. Since we were there for a wedding, we spent a good part of the trip attending wedding related events. During our free time we explored the town and found so many amazing galleries. My favorite by far was Wabi, and incredibly stunning and minimalistic design showroom right down the street from our hotel. I literally wanted everything.
In addition to this, we ate at so many yummy restaurants, most of which I cannot remember the name unfortunately, but we did stop at an incredible place called Quince. We sipped the most delicious margaritas and had a beautiful rooftop view of the town. I would highly suggest going here when you visit.
The only downside of the trip was that Bryce got really sick from something and we don’t know what it was. Luckily we had a great hotel room because he spent a good amount of time there recovering from his stomach bug. Despite this, he was a total trooper and we truly had the best time. I know that next time we go back to San Miguel, we need to figure out how to ship things back to the states because I have to get a few things on my next trip!
Below are a few of my favorite memories from our trip. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Dearest Jen,
I loved seeing your pictures and I love your blog. Thanks for coming to SMA!!! You were a gorgeous bridesmaid!
I am so sorry Bryce was ill. I heard that a handful of other guys were also sick at different times, but I couldn’t pin it down to any particular activity or food or drink! Much love to you!

Thank you Helen! We had the best time. Thank you for having us and planning such a beautiful weekend. Hope to see you soon. xx
Hello Jen.
This is so awesome you went here. San Miguel de Allende is a great place; so creative, with lots of nooks and crannies. Great photos. I love the rough textures spotted with little bits of refinement. Yes, you can buy things and ship them through the port of Long Beach.. A bit slow but worth it the wait.
