Last weekend, my sister and I took a little vacation to the most magical place, Ojai. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that it is just a short drive from LA (under 2 hours) and easy to get to! One of the things that I love about the area is that it is so relaxing. We stayed at the Ojai Valley Inn and it was pure perfection from the time we checked in, to the time we checked out. We were greeted with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries which was the perfect start to the weekend.

From there we ventured to a casual place on property called Jimmy’s Pub and had a late lunch. We took a walk around the property and discovered cute shops, an arts and crafts type area where you can make pottery and other fun items, and the incredible golf course. I don’t really golf but I can tell you if you do, this course looks amazing.

That night we wandered off property to a beautiful little restaurant called The Ranch House, which has been around for years and is a great local spot. We had the best dinner (you can choose 3 or 5 courses) and the setting is in the most gorgeous garden area. They say that John Lennon wrote “imagine” here which after being on the grounds, I totally believe. They also have a killer lavender martini which is made with fresh lavender from the garden. I highly recommend eating here in Ojai.

The next morning we walked to Libby’s and got coffee at the cutest coffee bar on the hotel property. We then got changed and went to the pool for the rest of the afternoon. I have to say, one of the things I look for at hotels is the pool setup. This pool was not only gorgeous, but had great food and service was incredible. I highly recommend the chicken club sandwich with fries. (Clearly watching my figure) My sister had a salad and said it was amazing as well. (She has more restraint then I do)
We ended up asking the pool server about how far the downtown area was because we wanted to check it out and he said it was just off the property and to the right. So we decided to change and walk into town and see what was there. Not going to lie, it was a pretty warm day so I would recommend driving or taking out a bike that the hotel offers if it’s warm, but regardless we made it!

We found the cutest little tasting room called Majestic Oak Vineyard and sat outside in this pretty little garden area and tasted wine for an hour. We wandered around afterward and noticed there were some cute shops, restaurants, and a few other tasting rooms in town. My sister ended up buying a few things at one of the stores and then we made our way back to the hotel (in an Uber this time).

That night we went to The Oak at the hotel, which was a lovely experience. They have a beautiful outside seating area and the most amazing cocktails. I had a lavender lemonade cocktail and it was one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. My sister and I shared a steak and sea bass and both were cooked to perfection.
The hotel has these beautiful Paul Ferrante lanterns hanging from the trees and it made me think that this would be a beautiful place to get married. If you’re currently looking for a venue, I highly suggest The Ojai Valley Inn.

That morning we ended up going for a long walk and ended up at the spa juice bar and had yummy green juices. I’ve heard wonderful things about the spa and didn’t have an opportunity to try it this trip but plan to try it out the next time I am in the area. We checked out around noon and headed back to LA, and it was bittersweet. It was such a beautiful place to unwind and relax for a few days and I cannot wait to go back soon.

A huge thank you to the Ojai Valley Inn for making our stay so incredible and The Ranch House for a lovely dining experience.  Also to my sister who is a pretty fabulous photographer.
