I have had so many people ask me about my skin care routine and what products I use on a daily basis. In the past I have done posts on my skin regimen, suggestions for having healthy skin, and divulged almost everything that I use to prevent aging. Today I am talking about a couple of other things that I have been doing because I have had so many questions and want to open up the conversation on it all…
First off, I just want to say that I believe the foundation for having great skin is pretty basic : minimal sun, drinking lots of water daily, wearing sunscreen daily, and living an overall healthy lifestyle.
That being said, at a certain point aging just starts to happen to all of us. I am 32, turning 33 in October and have been dabbling in botox and filler. I like to think of myself as a minimalist, and natural by all means, and I have seen what happens when things go awry (we have all seen Botched
) and it isn’t the prettiest. That is why I always do my research on everything and when it comes to the face we all need to make sure we trust the doctor’s we are going to!! Am I right? So when I decided to get botox and filler, I found a place through a girlfriend called “Giovinezza
,” in Newport Beach. I live in LA now but used to live in Newport and still go there weekly, so it makes complete sense for me to make the drive. I already felt at ease knowing my girlfriend approved of the spot, so when I went in the first time (I have gone twice now) I was excited and a little nervous. Caron, who did my injections, could not have been nicer. She explained what botox does and how she is extremely conservative when deciding on how many units to inject. I ended up doing 12 units (which is barely anything) on that visit. She wanted me to come back a couple of weeks after to see how the botox was working and when I did, she injected just a smidge more, so that I could still have movement and look natural, yet have the softer look I was craving.
When I went in the second time, I also did a little filler in my face around my smile line area and chin. Once again, Caron explained everything in detail. We lose collagen and elasticity in our face as we get older and filler which is basically hyaluronic acid (our body produces this too fyi) “fills in” those areas that are starting to show signs of aging like fine lines and other less than ideal things. Again, I am conservative, so I only did a little to soften some fine lines that have decided to make a home in my smile area. In my chin area, I just rounded it out a bit so it wasn’t as sharp and pointy as it normally is. It has a softer edge now, like I had when I was younger.
I was so pleased with the results and had no bruising, redness, swelling, or anything really! It was easy breezy, and I actually met my old boss for drinks afterward at Fig & Olive! Caron is amazing and called me the next day to check up on me and see if I was happy with everything. I wanted to share my experience with you because I know these sorts of things can be scary if you have never gone before. So if you are like me and thinking about dipping your toe in with botox or filler or both, I highly suggest going to Giovinezza if you live in LA or OC. Trust me it is so worth it and I promise you will be happy with the results. If you have any questions for me on any of this as well, please comment below and I will happily answer anything you may want to know.
Also their office is offering a great deal for botox for first time patients! If you mention Modern Ensemble, they will give you $8/unit botox which is an amazing deal. You’re welcome. 🙂
PS I shot these photos a few days after I went in. What do you think? Do you notice any difference?
