I read a quote recently that said –
“There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy”
and it really stuck with me.

In today’s world, we are all in a rush every day, moving from thing to thing, almost in a robotic sort of way, and we rarely take the time to slow down and breathe, even if just for a minute and focus on all of the good in our lives. I know firsthand I am definitely guilty of this. My schedule is insane, and I have two jobs, interior design and blogging, which keep my schedule more than full. Then mix in a workout here and there, a social life, my boyfriend, family, being a bridesmaid in several weddings and planning showers and bachelorettes, the list could go on… and I am sure yours could too! That is why I wanted to share 10 simple ways to be happy every single day because life is too short to stress and just go through the motions of life without enjoying the little moments that make it worth while.

Here are a few of my favorites that keep me happy every single day.

1. Smile. Smiling releases seratonin in the brain which instantly gives you a mood lift and it’s the easiest thing to do daily!
2. Sing Out Loud in the Car. This sounds silly but let me tell you, it is an instant mood changer and you will be happy and smiling in no time, so turn on your favorite song, turn it up, and sing your heart out.
3. Indulge in a piece of dark chocolate. Nothing beats a sweet treat and will make your mood brighten almost immediately, plus dark chocolate is technically healthy right?
4. Meditate for 5-10 Minutes a Day. This was really a game changer for me. I usually take the first few minutes in the morning or evening to do this and I just sit in silence, clear my thoughts, and focus on all of the positives in my life. It really works and it only takes a few minutes.
5. Forgive Your Imperfections. This one is particularly hard for me because I overthink everything and I am a perfectionist. Truth is, we all make mistakes, no one is perfect. Laugh it off and you will be so much happier in everyday life.
6. Get Enough Sleep. This is really important. I personally need 8 hours of solid sleep a night and wake up refreshed, energized and in a great mood. When you lack sleep, it’s a lose lose for everyone around you and especially yourself.
7. Be Grateful. When you are content with what you have, you will always be happy. Don’t compare yourself to Betty or Veronica, they aren’t you. Be you and only you.
8. Wake Up Early. I am by no means an early riser, but I wake up around 6:45am daily and those first few hours of the day are always my most savored. That first sip of coffee, my workout class, and my morning show “Live with Ryan and Kelly” are the little things that make me happy every day.
9. Surround Yourself with Happy Positive People. Being around like-minded people that share your values and goals makes a big difference. No one wants to be around Eeyore (think Winnie the Pooh) with the dark cloud around you and always negative. Happiness is contagious and when you are around positivity, you will catch it immediately.
10. Love. When you love who you are, your life will immediately change. Love what you are doing (work wise), love the person you’re with (your partner), love your friends, and even your enemies. When you love, happiness automatically follows.
